Asbestos Awareness
Training...

... is more than just a mandatory requirement*, it is a moral obligation to ensure that workers are not exposed to a known killer, a category one carcinogen that is still prevalent within millions of premises throughout the UK.

Here at 1974 Rapport Ltd we take our role VERY seriously indeed when it comes to educating and informing workers about Asbestos Containing Materials!

If you think that Asbestos is just a tick box exercise, you’d be sorely mistaken; there are over 5,500 UK deaths attributed to asbestos exposure every year in the UK alone. This is simply not acceptable and training, awareness and education is one of the ways that we can combat this.

*The HSE Control of Asbestos Regulations (regulation 10) states that anyone who could foreseeably encounters Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) as part of their work activities MUST receive awareness training. The HSE goes further and specifically stipulates what information, instruction and training must be provided. Our Asbestos Awareness course not only meets these requirements but exceeds them! We think our Asbestos training is soooooooooo good because….

  • We have spent many years working in the HSE licenced Asbestos removal industry, we have first-hand experience of the sector and dealing with asbestos in buildings.

  • We have over a decade of experience delivering Asbestos Courses.

  • We tailor the training to our clients’ specific needs.

  • We translate Asbestos legislation into easily understandable and manageable principals.

  • We are externally audited and are a member of The Independent Asbestos Training Providers (IATP) Association. Audit reports can be viewed at the IATP website

  • We don’t just use photos to get your team to know asbestos, we have samples of real ACMs encapsulated in an acrylic resin that are passed around to experience these materials up close an personal in a safe manor.

The course content includes, but is not limited to…

  • The properties of asbestos and its effects on health

  • Types, uses and likely occurrence of asbestos and ACMs in buildings and plant

  • The general procedures to be followed to deal with an uncontrolled release of asbestos

  • How to avoid the risks from asbestos

  • Asbestos surveys and material assessment scoring systems

Our clients typically think that our training is head and shoulders above anything that they have previously attended, and delegates leave the course with a really good knowledge and respect of the material.

Our awareness training is delivered to small groups, is typically a half-day session and certification of attendance is awarded upon successful completion.

Please get in touch to discuss your specific needs and we’ll come up with a bespoke package to ensure you get excellent value for money and a training course that is relevant to your sector.
